What's the best, cheapest digital camera?

The one I got last Christmas died ... for no reason!

It was a:
Fuji finepix a700
http://blogcritics.org/archives/2007/03/...

I need something easy & foolproof, and I liked the one I had .. except for the fact that it crapped out.

I'm also poor.

Any favorites?

i guess i'm willing to shell out about $200 tops

all i need it to do is be able to tote it around & take those annoying party facebooks pics .. low red-eye, not going to break, etc

You really need to at least tell us your maximum budget. If you want a good quality ultracompact, go with sony or canon.

I'll just assume that you can at least pay 184 dollars for your new camera so check out the Sony W55. It's probably the best ultracompact or one of the top ultracompacts you can get at this price.

It received 4.5 stars from 105 people.

Btw, the word poor is very subjective. I'm so poor that my EFC for financial aid is $0, but I'm still a lot richer than some of my classmates.

Well, I still recommend the sony I mentioned. It has red-eye reduction, but if you still get red eyes, they should be easy to get rid of with whatever sony software that you'll get with the camera.

If you don't want to pay for a new memory card, you might want to get a camera that supports xd memory cards like the one your fuji used, but if you're not going to take a lot of pictures, a new memory card shouldn't cost more than $20.

Here are two ultracompacts under 200 that supports xd memory cards, but neither look very appealing.

Fuji are good cameras. If you are looking for a good cheap camera try going to a shoppers drug mart photo lab you can find good deals there or there is always ebay. I suggest you get a sony dsc 350, the only i have dealt with them is lens not closing.

There are two words in the English language that just never seem to go together.... BEST and CHEEP. All kidding aside, there are 3 classes of digital cameras, the Consumer class at $350 down, the Prosumer class at $1000 down and the Professional class at $1000 up.

I really believe buying a camera is an individual choice.
The person needs to read alot of reviews on cameras and learn as much as they can from the internet.
Go to the store and hold them and try them to see what they feel like and how they take pictures.
I can only give a suggestion of what to look for in a new digital camera.
Good Luck

my suggestion
go to yahoo shopping
digital cameras
digital camera GUIDE
be sure to check titles on the left side
the guide should answer your questions

I suggest this one, you can buy it for around $120 or Less!!
