I am looking to upgrade my digital camera. Advice on which models do not have a time delay please?

I have a Fuji finepix, 5 mill mp, and it takes great photos but would like something with less of a time delay between pressing the button and taking the picture. Still want the great clarity and a decent zoom and if possible a snazzy small shape to. Any advice would be very appreciated. Thanks

Canon Ixus are good compact little beasties, no idea about the shutter delay but in general you'll be looking at a very expensive digital SLR for that kind of speed.

Film SLR's have no delay and are the reason why I have gone back to them for anything more than point and shoot.

samsung digimax a402 its not big and it loks cool, mine is in cherry red

I recently brought a new Digi Camera and did a lot of research before I got it.
I ended up with a Fuji Finepix F10. Awesome, 6.3mp, 500 shot battery life and proper speedy start up and snapping.
The pic quality is excellent and the camera has won quite a few awards too.

Fuji finepix f30 is a camera like no others in the market. Megapixel.net says, " The Finepix F30 sensitivity range covers from 100 to 3200 ISO, a rare capability in a compact camera, but what is even more unusual is that even at 800 ISO, the F30's images compare well to what many other compacts produce at 400 ISO; while at 400 ISO, they can be compared to 100 and 200 ISO images."

In term of performance, this camera is fast. The battery life is great too. As mentioned in dcresource.com, "[battery] life was... stupendous -- the F30 lasts longer than any compact camera on the market."

There are more to boast about the f30; you just have to check it out.

Do you mean "shutter lag"?
You will have to go for a digital SLR for that.
Nikon D70S or D200.
Canon are ok too.

I would recommend the Canon Ixus 800, quick start-up and no delay between shots (you can even specify how long the picture taken is being displayed, before ready for its next pic).

The Sony DSC-H5 is about the same size as the FinePix line of cameras and is a FAR better camera (Fuji is kinda the redheaded stepchild of the digital camera market). The H5 is a 7 megapixel camera with a nice 12x ultrazoom lens. It takes good pictures for its class of camera and is probably the best you can get in the $400 range.

You are actually talking about 'shutter lag' and not time delay.
Most digital cameras have some sort of shutter lag. The best way to avoid the lag is to pre-focus your shot first by half pressing the shutter button...and then recomposing your shot. (its actually the time taken by the camera to focus, which causes the lag)
Another cause of shutter lag can be the using of the LCD screen.
Of course a digital SLR is another alternative, but not recommended for a beginner.
Canon is a brand well worth considering.

check out the Canon Rebel. I love it.
