Too much choice ! Help needed choosing a Digital Video Camera?

The only thing I am sure of is that I would prefer one with a Hard Disk (No messing about with Tapes/Dvd's etc.).

Also wouldn't mind being able to use it as a stills camera - Got a 6mp Fuji atm, obviously not expecting to get upto 6mp's on a Camcorder - but would like good quality photo's if possible.

Budget would be up to 拢1000 (around $2000).

Anybody got any advice on this please (What you have bought and are pleased with etc.).

The top HDD (Hard Disk Drive) camcorder is the Sony HDR-SR1 which records in HD (High Definition). Sony also has a highly rated HDD SD (Standard Definition) camcorder, the DCR-SR100. You can read the reviews at camcorderinfo.com

Hello:

I understand the dilemma of too many choice.

Here is a website that helped me with my choice for my digital camera. The more knowledge one has, the better choice they can make. I think Course #9 is the one you want. But it might be helpful if you read a few of the other courses also.

Another site that had additional information not at the first site is: http://martweiss.com/film/camcorder1.sht...

Then you might want to go to a shopping bot (mysimon.com or pricegrabber.com). These bot sites compile information on like items advertised on the Internet and show you how much they charge for the item and shipping. Comparison shopping at its best.

Depending on the size of your community, your local camera dealer may match any price you find on the Internet. Here in the States, the large companies like Staples will often match Internet deals and then you don't have to pay or wait for shipping.

Good luck.

You want a nice nitevision model which operates in low light and has night vision to see in total darkness. Sony is the choice of many police forces equipment for their cruisers and they have many at wholesale prices when they upgrade their cruisers if their budget demands them to at auction. Another choice is a DVD camera and you can afford a down priced model lacking some of the accessories if you shop at Circuit City stores go there and look for the mark downs so your find a $600.00 camera like DVD for less than $300.00 because its out of box and has a few things missing which does not detract from the quality your seeking. They may have the HD model you want to, but with some caution on buying that think Panasonic Double Sided Double Density DVD recorders that operate seperately from the computer or directly with the computer as they can also record from a TV, VHS Tape deck, or a DVD player and thats why you need think DVD instead, they hold a 8.7 GB DVD disc by the way and work well with 4.7 DVD size also. So you don't have to spent your entire total on what you want deerly just look for the display at Circuit City ask the sales person if possible to show you the cameras available at a discount, remember they have them connected to alarms so don't pull to hard on the camera when your looking at it and that will keep it from sounding off and the sales person having to reset the alarm under the counter.
