I'm looking to buy a good IR filter for my Fuji Finepix S9500 digital camera, but don't know what type to buy or if there are any good IR filters compatable with my camara? What type should I get? Firstly, to check if your camera is capable of IR, while in a dark room with absolutely no light entering, set a wide open aperture (lowest f-stop number) and a long exposure. set the camera to manual focus as it wont have anything to focus on. Hold a tv remote up to the lens and press one of the remote buttons. While holding down one of the buttons, press the shutter. Check the photo. If you can see the IR light coming from the remote, then you have a camera that is capable of capturing IR photos.
If so, then any IR filter that fits your camera will be ok. There are other methods of obtaining that IR look without having to use an IR filter. Email me if you would like to know how.
