My memory card is telling me there is no more room and just they other day i had 200 pics left on it!!!?

i have a fuji camera and fuji memory card
the card's number code thing is DPC-M2GB
i haven't dropped the camera at all and they camera is fairly new
i just turned my camera on and it told me i had 17 frames left on the card and everytime i took and picture then deleted it the frame number still decreased! What's up with it?

Some cameras, especially if they are a few years old, have limitations on the size of memory card they can write to and still use the full amount of memory on the card. If you use a larger memory card, the camera can still store pictures, but not as many as the camera shows it can.

My low-end four year old Kodak digital camera has this issue. The manual says the camera can use a memory card with a maximum 256 Megabytes size. One day, I filled up a memory card I had, and borrowed a 1 Gigabyte card from a friend on a gamble so I could take more pictures. The larger card had about 225 Megs on it already. My Kodak showed I could still take something like a thousand pictures, but gave a "memory full" message when I took enough pictures to reach the 256 megabytes on the 1 Gigabyte card.

It sounds like the memory card you have has a 2 gigabyte capacity. Check the owners' manual for your camera to check if it can use this capacity. If not, buy a smaller one.

It sounds like your memory card is corrupted.

Deleting image files off the card is a sure way to corrupt the card.

Here is the way this is supposed to work

* You put your new card into the camera and format it using the format feature on your camera.
* You take photos and at the end of the day, copy them to your computer.
* After you have made sure that all the images were safely copied to your computer, then format the card again.

If you want to keep photos on you cameras memory card, then buy a new card and use it, but stop deleting files from your card.

When you format a card the card is refreshed, new file folders are written to the card and a new image index file is written. It is this index file that becomes corrupted when you delete file after file instead of formatting the card routinely.
