I just bought a JVC Digital Video camera. It takes pictures and Video. It has tapes and a slot for a MMC or SD card. I want to put the video on my computer. How do I do it? I tried last night to do it, but my SD card was only 128MG. Before I went out and bought a 4GB card, I wanted to make sure that is what I need. Can someone PLEASE tell me how to put a video on my computer, so I can post it or email it???? Usually, the memory card is just for still photos.
The video is stored on tape. You need to plug a firewire cable from your camcorder into the computer.
Then, you need to put the camcorder in play mode and start up a program like iMovie or Windows Movie Maker. Both will "capture" the footage from the tape onto your computer so that you can edit it.
In order to post it or email it, you'll want to export it into a smaller, web size. Usually 320x240 dpi 15 frames per second is a decent quality output, using WMV or MOV compression. However, keep the movie short if you want to keep the filesize small.
To burn the movie to DVD, I recommend AOA DVD Creator:
