best answer-10 points!

The JVC GR-DVM70 is a miniDV tape based camcorder.

I don't think it uses USB for anything - it does not have a memory card and does not do video streaming. It stores stills to the tape.

I hope you are not pushing too hard on the cable into your computer - you may be trying to push a 4-pin firewire cable into USB on your computer - and you could end up breaking the cable and your computer.

Here is a link to the manual:

Refer to page for connecting to 72 for connecting to a PC. I'm going to guess your PC is new enough where it does not have the RS-232 jack... and it may not have a firewire port - Firewire, i.Link, DV and IEEE1394a are all the same thing. You need to install a firewire400 port on your computer. If you are using a Mac, you probably already have one. You will also have to get a DV (firewire, IEEE1394a, i.Link) cable. It did not come in the box. You will need a 4-pin (camera DV port) to 6-pin (computer firewire port) firewire cable.
