Can someone help me find what i need for my JVC Camcorder?

Hi everyone, iv had a JVC camcorder for a while now, its a JVC GR-DX307EK and i really need to find the drivers for it. searching the net i managed to find something, but when i downloaded it and tried to install it a message popped up saying "for windows ME only" and wouldnt let me change the setting to an XP configuration, then i found another that would let me change it to an XP setting but after i installed it and it said the software was succesfully installed i still cant upload my footage.
nothing appears in my start menu or programme files and when i plug the camera in the computer picks it up but does nothing more than tell me that its there, whereas the camera thinks im playing it through a TV and simply tried (and fails) to play the sound through the computers speekers rather that being picked up as a storage device like its supposed to.

The JVC GR-DX307 is a miniDV tape based camcorder.

ALL miniDV tape based camcorders transfer video from the tape to the computer using the camcorder's DV port (not USB) to the computer's firewire port (not USB) using a firewire cable (not USB).

When a firewire 400 card

is properly installed and working in your computer, there is no need for a camcorder-device-specific driver.

When the camcorder is connected using firewire, it will not mount like a USB mass storage device. You launch your video editor and "Capture" (import) the video.

Read your camcorder's manual. Firewire, i.Link and IEEE1394a are all the same thing.

The USB drivers USED to work - but they transferred very poor quality, highly compressed video - so they have been abandoned and are no longer supported.
