Questions about the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Camera Lens (for Canon Rebel XT)? |
I have a few questions about this lens: 1 Would this lens be a suitable replacement to the lens in the kit? 2 Is this lens good for landscape photography? 3 Do I need to get other lenses, or can I practically use this one lens for all circumstances? Thanks!!! 1. Yes it is, IQ (Imagine Quality) wise it is better than the lens kit in borke, sharpness, and contrast. But the lens kit is still a good lens. It is only as good as the photographer makes it. 2. No, for say, its not wide enough for most situations you usually need wider like 24mm or even 17mm. 3. Get another more prime lenses. Something less than 50 and another more than 50mm. Or you can get a zoom lens, depending on how much your willing to spend. I have in my equipment 24-105mm f/4 L lens and a 70-200mm f/2.8 L lens. That pretty much covered my bases, but I dont think you hav ethat much money to spend on just 2 lenses. I didnt want to skimp out on quality and I sure as hell got what I wanted. If you want imagine quality get L lenses. Or do A LOT of research on other lenses and make your own judgement. Edit: to clave, not true. Most modern lenses do almost as good job as primes do. Ok so 17mm prime is still not as good as a zoom 17-xxmm but its getting close. Primes USED to be a lot better than zoom lenses but now zoom lenses have caught up with primes. I agree with Koko's answer on all three points. If you want one prime lens, the "classic" for the XT would be about 30 mm. I suggest the ultimate prime "normal" lens might be the Canon 35 mm f/1.4 L-series. http://www.the-digital-picture.com/revie... Yeah, you can use this for "practically all circumstances," if you are willing to "zoom" with your feet instead of your fingers. You will have great image quality, though. Primes are 99% better then zooms as are not trying to do many things at once. HOWEVER, the versatility of the zoom lens makes them a very popular choice. Proud Pentaxian with 4 zooms (18-55, 50-200, 10-17, 28-75) and 2 primes (50mm f2, 50mm f1.2) i have no clue |
