Camera help and photography help...? |
I'm a new photographer and im in search of a better camera, i know it won't be cheap, but i mostly do outdoors, landscapes, etc. Any ideas would be helpful, also any tips on photography would be greatly appreciated. Thanks I'm guessing that you are mostly shooting landscapes but there are sooo many subjects when shooting "outdoors" (birds-small & large, macros, flowers/plants, animals/wildlife etc.) Many may require more specific gear (macro lens for close-ups of flowers/plants/insects or 400mm+ for birds & wildlife for example). I mention them as food for thought for other options instead of just landscapes. I mean, if you're in a beautiful spot, why limit yourself? Anyway, a decent DSLR is a great idea. I understand the new Canon Rebel's (try the Rebel XTi)are decent (and affordable) starter cameras and will allow you to use manual settings. You'll want to become very familiar with how your camera works (especially in manual and aperature preferred modes). I shoot Canon so I don't know a lot about other camera makers but from the reviews I've read, Sigma makes a surprisingly good and affordable DSLR and of course there's always Fuji & Nikon which have a range of DSLR camera bodies. As for lenses, I'd suggest a standard zoom lens like a 17-85mm (or somewhere in that range) and a telephoto zoom like a 100-300mm (or somewhere in that range). Ideally, you'd like to have some overage in lens range. Of course the faster the lens, the better ... and the more expensive. Don't forget a good tripod and cable release too. I found books by John Shaw very helpful. I hope you find this information helpful. If you are using a point and shoot camera, then one needs to know whats your budget for the new one look up for www.dpreview.com Mehul Start with an entry level DSLR from one of the top 2 Nikon or Canon. |
