What are some differences in the Nikon D50 and D70's? |
I'm planning on purchasing one of those two cameras, but I'm not sure which one would cater to my liking more, I'm planning on going to college for photography in Portraiture, Fashion, and Landscape photography, occasionally using Macro. I'm just wondering what camera would cater towards my needs better, also, what type of Format are theses Camera's? Thanks! The D50 is a very BASIC entry level camera. The D70 has all the bells a whistles of a pro seris DSLR. Either one will do fine for you but I suggest the D70s. Don't be caught up too much on the body, your lenses are where you will fail or pass. Buying consumer grade lenses, F3.5 or F5.6 as a minimum aperature and mostly plastic they are also not as sharp as a good lens and over time will fall apart, are great whe you don't have a lot of cash because they are in expensive but if you REALLY want to make phhtotgraphy a career or even more than a hobby, get good glass. Save up and spend the ducks on real lenses. make sure they are well made, metal frames and CLEAN glass on the front elements, and have a minimum apreature of at least F/2.8. They will be more expensive but it if you start out with a 35-70mm F/2.8 and an 80-200mm F/2.8 you'll be set to start. Ther is an older lens you can pick up in camera stores if you're lucky and it's the older 35-70mm F/2.8 and it has a macro on it also. I GREAT All purpose lens. I still have the first two I bought over 15 years ago and they still are as sharp as the day I brought them out of the box. The next MOST IMPORTANT step which ever type lens you buy... GET A CLEAR UV FILTER TO GO ON THE FRONT!!! They will not affect your image and they protect the lens itself from damage. It's a lot cheaper to buy a new filter than it is to have your lens recoated or replaced! Go with the D70 and get good glass... bodies come and go but good glass is forever. Good luck and happy shooting! Source(s): USAF Combat Aerial Photog and a photographer for 25 years I think nikonjedi summed it up pretty well, cheap lens=bad pictures |
