Who is into Photography and how long? |
I love photography and would like to know who else is into it and what kind... Like, black and white, children photography, Landscape, etc.. Anyway, I also like to see pictures from others... I have enjoyed photography since I was a teenager. I have always liked pretty pictures, scenics mostly. In the Marine Corps I purchased a Minolta system that I used for 15 years or so. I have thousands of slides that I don't know what to do with today. They are too expensive to scan but I can't throw them away. I also shot a lot of b/w photos while in the service. I helped to publish a year book for our fighter squadron when I got back from Viet Nam. I just bought my first digital camera and am having a blast shooting whatever I like because I can and it won't cost me a cent. I still like landscape photography but have branched out to nature and wildlife, and unusual things that I run across like train graffiti. Old rusted cars and rustic shacks are another area I want to try. I like to experiment. On the way home from a trip to McCall, Idaho I stuck the camera out the side window at random and shot whatever was going by just to see what I would get. I couldn't wait to get home and see what I had shot. I like the power of black and white photographs. They make you concentrate on composition and capturing the light. I also enjoy manipulating photos in PhotoShop. A mundane photo can be made to really snap with the right filters and manipulation. I hope to get some of my favorite photos up on flicr one of these days. Its my hugest pasttime. Started it in 2001, went from digital to traditional darkroom black and white, now currently doing digital again. My photography pretty much dies during winter, and last summer was awful in terms of the number of images I took, and I haevn't fugured out what I'm going to do with all the images I've taken :) But I love the craft, and I've learned so much in just 5 years, with so much more to learn! I was happy to win some awards too at my local camera club - at least it made me feel like I had some talent :) I have not had the time to make an online gallery so unfortunately I can't share my images yet. But soon... I have been into photography since I was 12 with a 110 camera, I moved up to 35mm when I was 21 and just got my current digital camera a year ago when I was 49.
