What are some good ideas for bodypainting a female glamour model?

I am basically a photo-journalist and nature photographer who has been studying glamour photography at a local studio. The gentleman who did bodypainting quit last month. I can paint, I can draw, and there are a number of models who work with the studio who are available for bodypainting. My question is: What do I do next? What kinds of things or designs do you suggest that I paint on them? All of these models are gorgeous, and some of them are in magazines that are on the stands now. Also, I understand that a lot of the Sports Illustrated bodypainting stuff was done with stencils. But I want to do something at least a few things that are a little bit sexier, a little bit racier and maybe not as complicated as what usually appears in Sports Illustrated. What are your suggestions?

The two answers that I have received so far have been great, but I was looking for ideas along these lines:The guy who quit painted pumpkins onto the derrieres and breasts of three models.Somebody else painted two eyes and a smile onto the breast of a model, thus turning the nipple into a kind of nose of snout.
Those kinds of ideas I'm looking for.
Thanx guys

I found that latex based body paints work better than most paints. A few issues you want to work out, is not staining the body, and the paint lasts long enough to get thru a shoot without having to "touchup" too often.

As for designs, if your using static poses, with no movement you can get the model to not rub off the paint just by standing around. If your looking for something a little more animated, you dont want to paint in places that might get rubbed, or flaked.

Some of the things I have done were to place a model laying in front of hillside, building, etc..., and paint her as if your painting the hillside or building, adding little props from hobby shops to mix in to the scene, like trees, rocks, fencing, train tracks, etc.... Use the natural contours of the model to their best effect.

I have used pieces of red and white clay, mixed with baby oil, to create a muddy slip, if you know the ceramics terminology. Than you can use hand prints, finger marks, etc..., to place on your model. The baby oil keeps the slip from drying out as fast as water, and is cheap. Its easy to remove also.

You can smear your models with baby oil, and dust them with kids chalk (ground up), creating color effects. The chalk sticks to the baby oil well. Gives a more subtle coloring than paint.

You can play with finger paint, and tempura, add some kind of oil to paint (baby or even corn), it gives a smoother appearance to the paint. Just test it ahead of time, to make sure you get a mix that doesnt stain skin, or your model is really going to be pissed at you.

You can mix pieces of tissue, the wrapping paper sort, cut as you like, rub baby oil or small amounts of vaseline to the body, and apply the tissue. You can use geometric shapes, any shapes actually, and use it alongside paint if you want. The tissue work better with static poses, so it doesnt tear.

IF you want to give the model some texturing, apply a thin layer of white, clear drying glue, and pull up creating a scale efffect that can easily be colored. Its great for mermaid sets. You probably dont want to entire bodys with it, but it might come in handy.

Having an assistant on hand to do touchups, quick fixes, WILL come in handy. ITs a pain in the backside to have to put your camera down, fix something, grab the camera, get a couple of shots, fix something again. The sun and studio lights can really dry water based stuff quick, so I use something like baby oil, corn oil, or vaseline when possible.

Make sure you use non-toxic, certified body paints. Safety first.

Good luck...be sure and share some photos.
