For Muslims: Regarding how human images are forbidden in art...? |
I'm not a Muslim, but I do enjoy studying religions. What caught my attention is that in Islam, illustrations or artwork depicting humans or animals is forbidden. Other things, like patterns, nature scenes, and abstract art is okay though- correct me if I'm wrong? Why is that? Just curious. Also, I have seen some arguments over whether or not photography is included in this- do you consider it to be? It's simply out of respect for the Most Glorious Prophet. There is a long history of Islamic art of people and animals. However, depictions of Muhammed have been avoided since the very beginning. That wasn't always the case. no its not true !! i am muslim i have lots of artist drawings of people and animals in our house . soo ur info. is wrong !! i hope i helped :) i don't believe that photography is against, but artwork and illistrations yes. many people do not know this but what you said is true. this is because only God can create and make and it is most disrespectful to try do as He does. yes at first it is quite innocent, but we're human beings and it can go worse, there are scientisits out there trying to make clones, we muslims are always precautious. we don't take the risk of drawing. maybe little happy faces are fine but serious human and animal artwork isn't acceptable. For the most important reason, man try to imitate a quality of Allaah. Only Allaah creates souls. On the Day of Judegement, anyone who paints a picture of any thing with a soul or makes a statue of anything with a soul, Allaah will tell them to give it life. And that, they will be unable to do. Also, we don't put pictures with souls or statues up in our homes because the Angels will not enter. Mainly, it's to prevent idol worship; to a weak-minded Muslim, a picture might be worshiped more than the idea of Allah. |
