I am an aspiring photographer working craft shows need full time opportunity in New York State where do I look

I like to take photos of flowees and nature and currently have 35-40 pieces in my portfolio. Ive done some networking but little sucsess. I have a few pieces in a bank, Ive donated some to charitable events but I would like to earna respectable living doing my dream , looking for real estate opportunities or sports photography willing to train and travel

The photos in the bank are a great start. Are there business cards or other contact information available at the bank? Do they have other branches that might host your work?

Libraries, senior centers and other community buildings are always looking for work to display. Check them out.

Coffee shops and restaurants are also a possibility. You should prepare a single sheet flyer that shows your work (properly matted and framed) along with contact information so you can give something to a manager when you knock on a shop's door.

Churches and non-profit groups are in need of images. Volunteer your time to shoot something custom in exchange for a photo credit.

Real estate will be hard to break into, since most agents have a camera and consider themselves a 'photographer' so they'll be a tough sell. If you must do real estate, focus on the highest end homes in your market and take some dramatic shots. Approach the agent with your fabulous work and convince them that their point and shoot shot doesn't do this $3 million dollar home justice.

As for sports photography, you have a much better chance of being in the right place at the right time to come up with a great shot. Even a Little League game has drama, especially in the stands with the passionate parents. Your local newspaper might be the best outlet to try and sell this type of work.

I recently read an article about a very successful physician who quit her practice to follow her dream of being a photographer. She said, "If you don't wake up every morning with the feeeling that you love what you do, you need to make a change."

She's a hit as a photographer, and you can be too, because it is your dream, your passion.

Good luck and please keep me posted on your progress. Source(s): 30+ years advertising, marketing and photography experience
