what's the difference between the nikon coolpix 4600 digital camera and the coolpix 5600? The only difference between the two cameras are...the Coolpix 5600 has 5.0 MP and the Coolpix 4600 has only 3.9 MP.
So, I think that between the two, the 5600 would be the better choice.
However, from what I can see, there are much better choices available, because...
These two Nikons will be 2 years old in Feb (better and newer technologies are available).
They have a very low res. LCD screen of only 80,000 pixels (other cameras have screens of about 120,000-230,000 pixels).
The movie mode on these cameras is not the best etc etc.
Newer cameras are all available in 6-10 MP.
Good luck in your choice. http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/nikon/... You have the references on the side-by-side comparison. As far as I know, the 4600 is 4 MP and the 5600 is 5 MP. I think the 5600 has sound in video mode and the 4600 doesn't. Since I assume you are actually looking at these cameras for purchase, here are a few pics I took with my 4600 a while ago that I keep showing people to let them know that 4 MP is decent for most purposes. If you have a great deal on a 4600, I still think it's a very nice "pocketable" camera.

Here are a few samples. These pics were taken with the Coolpix 4600 with no tricks or gimmicks or filters or anything. They had some "very minor adjustments" in Photoshop. If you bought this camera today, you would be able to go out and snap these pictures yourself.
