A tough choice....Please help?

I bought a used digital camera (Nikon S6) for USD 164 six months back. Cost of a new camera was USD 246 at that time. Recently it stopped working. The shop where I had bought this camera from, offered me to buy it for USD 41. I went to Nikon Service center and I got to know repairing cost varies from USD 66 to USD132 depending on type of component they need to replace. Please advise me whether I should get it repaired or sell it.

Since you are happy with the Nikon S6 camera, my advice will be: Sell your faulty camera and get a brand new Nikon S6, complete with warranty. If possible, spend some extra dollars as an investment for an extended warranty period. What's important is that you should by from a reputable dealer. Buying a digital camera, especially the tiny and slim Nikon S6, you have to really rely on warranty. In buying a used equipment, or repairing a faulty one, you depends on your lucky stars hard. When a used camera goes clunk, you will tend to try to repair it. A digital camera is a small electronics computer. It will work for some time and suddenly, it goes clunk again. That's why I advise on some serious thought of getting a new camera. After getting a new camera (please don't forget to fill in your warranty form), you'll have a peace of mind for at least one year, and if you pay for an extended warranty period, you will still be happily clicking away up to three years. Those teeny tiny cameras aren't cheap. If you need that form factor, and you're otherwise happy with the performance, get it repaired. It would be cheaper than selling and replacing it.

On the other hand, it sometimes becomes a mental issue - you won't trust the camera anymore. If that is the case (like it would be for my wife), sell it and bite the bullet to buy a new one.

i wouldnt have gotten a used 1 anyway!!!
