I realize that Engish is not officially the language of the U.S. but?

I thought that many of it's residents speak English.

So I was surprised to find that the expensive Nikon Digital Camera I just bought at Best Buy (in the U.S.) came with an instruction manual written solely in Spanish.

Fortunately, I could decifer Uso del zoom, and figure out how to do it by the picture. But how do I understand the rest of the instructions?

What's up with that? Did I miss the ban on the English language while having my pedicure today?

it happens....my range rover warranty booklet was only written in french...luckily i speak French, but it could pose a problem to others. but i think that English should be the official language of the United States because that was the language this country was founded upon...our constitution is not written in Spanish. English is not the official lagnuage of Mexico or any other latin american countries...so why should we change ours?

I don't think it's that serious. It was probably an oversight. Go back to the store or call the company and I'm sure they'll be happy to send you instructions in English.

First of all, try looking on the manufactures website to see if there is a downloadable version of the manual.

Second, I think the mistake is just a simple mistake. Nothing to get worried or mad about. There is no "ban" on English.

That just doesn't make sense. Are you sure there weren't two separate manuals, one in English and the other in Spanish and somehow the one in English got lost?.

The only explanation for that would be that the camera was manufactured in a Spanish speaking country, to be sold ONLY in that country. But it still makes no sense.

If I were you I'd go back to Best Buy and ask them if they have the manual in English.

LOL....it's probably on the bac or something. I've had to look real hard before to try to find the instructions in english. Or maybe it's a fluke.

how interesting. when i was in spain, all the electronics i bought had instructions in English. also might i suggest that you learn Spanish?
