What digital camera takes really good close up pictures of artwork?

I have a Nikon Coolpix 5200, but I need something that will take better close-up pictures of artwork. My Nikon is good for everything but that, even on the close-up setting. I鈥檓 camera illiterate, so I don鈥檛 really understand zooms & macro鈥檚 & exposures & all that. I don鈥檛 have time or desire to learn either. I want someone to just tell me a name of a good dig' camera that takes high-quality pic鈥檚 with very up-close, clear details. Anybody have a favorite? Anything simple? Simple is good. Thanks

I have an Optio WP (the current model is Optio W3) that will focus as close as 1/2 inch away from the subject.

I have a Nikon 8800 and its great for everything..

if your simple digicam is 4megapix and up, it's ok.

it's a matter of focusing the lens. if your digicam has a manual focus feature, use it. :) and if you're holding the camera near the object, don't zoom in with the lens anymore, because you'll get focus issues, and the light exposure would be affected since zooming in would require more light.

good lighting would also help

just turn your dail in to close up mode (it is a flower icon) , the camera will do the setting for you. focus on the object and make sure it is not so close otherwise the camera wont focus.

The lighting is more important than the camera, per se.

If you mean a painting, for instance, it is going to be at least 8x10 (??) and you don't have to be terribly close to take a picture that size. Just get back a few feet and then zoom in until the composition is correct.

The best light to use is indirect, subdued light. The free way to get this is to go outdoors and set the artwork on an easel in the shade. Complete shade, like the north side of your house, is best. Play with changing your angle of view JUST SLIGHTLY to make sure you don't have any tiny reflections that will obscure part of the artwork.
