i have a nikon e4600 it was a good camera now sucks all my pictures that i take our blury i need a new camera that creats great amazing pictures in the price range within 75-$200 go canon, i've always been pretty happy with them. if you're wanting to stay within that price range, try a canon s2. the s3 is this years new model, but the s2 still takes amazing pictures. i would definitly put it into your considerations. it has a flip around display screen, video mode, great picture quality that takes professional looking photos without you having to know a thing, and still have manual settings for when you want to be in control. you can even attatch lenses onto the exisiting one. it's great. SONY DSC-T1
Best camera money can buy. One of the smallest cameras ever made, smaller than a deck of cards, HUGE LCD screen on the back(something like 2.5" or more), 5mp picture quality, and the Carl Zeiss lens makes the pictures even better. VERY high quality video feature for a digital camera (up to 800x640 60fps). Quite a few built in effects and extra features as well. Comes with A/V hookups and you can view your photos on a TV or monitor, and you can also watch your video with sound. You can pick them up brand new on ebay for 150? Im not for sure, but i know they are no more than $200.
Look it up, you will not be disappointed as I have a $800 digital SLR and I have this Sony DSC-T1 as my pocket camera and I honestly prefer the DSC-T1 because its so much easier to carry around and unless you are taking professional pictures that are going to be enlarged on the side of a building, the DSC-T1 will run circles around any of the competitors. The Canon A630 or A640 or the S2. Cheap, efficent. Your not going to get a ultra silm camera at that price range that is really good.
Sony T1 takes really bad low light pictures. Lots of noise. Very disappointing for that camera but its ultra compact. I LOVE my Canon PowerShot A620. It's a 7.1 mp camera which takes awesome still shots, and just as awesome video. Great for home and everyday use. Easy to take on vacations and you can take some really artistic/creative photos too. A great all-around camera. My 35mm cameras are Canon too, and I still love and use it. .
I had a Sony, and I gave that to my daughter, and purchased the Canon PowerShot A610 for my teenage son. The Canon A610 is exactly like my A620, but is a 5 mp digital camera. They both take GREAT pictures, but my favorite thing about the camera, is the vari-angle LCD screen. You can even hook it up to your tv and see your pictures/video on whatever size screen you have. It's pretty neat on the big screens! (The necessary cords come with it). It is very easy to use, and a camera you can grow with. http://www.usa.canon.com

Our A610/A620 has a setting, call "kids&pets". Typically you use these on the subjects that usually has a hard time keeping still. But I also use this setting when taking pictures of my soccer team during game play. I've also taken pictures of my kids, nieces and nephews jumping in the air, a la cheerleader jumps, with great results. Lag time is very, very, very minimal. (e.g. delay from pressing button to actual camera capturing the shot). This is just one of the many settings the camera has to offer and you can also manually set and program your own settings.
For ease of point and shoot, just choose the setting in which you're taking pictures of, (i.e. indoor, outdoor, nighttime, portrait, fireworks, snow, beach, and 'auto' [automatic]), and it'll adjust accordingly the proper exposure/settings. And it even has an 'underwater' mode to use, but that's if you purchase the special housing for the camera. (I don't have the housing. I'll wait to save up or find it for very inexpensive). If you get more experience or for the experienced, you can manually choose exposure and settings like the old 35 mm.
I'm a bargain hunter. I purchased both NEW Canon this late spring 2006 on line. My son's was under $200 and mine was $204. Just Google (or Froogle) or Yahoo! Search any Canon model, and then see which merchant has the best price with those low price websites and order on-line. The price is waaaay better than going physically to the stores. If you need it right away, just upgrade the shipping. It's still cheaper than buying at the stores. No matter what model camera you're searching for, better prices are on-line.
I don't know if you'll find this model (A610) at the stores. They have newer models, the A630 (8mp) and the A640 (10mp), they boast more mega-pixels and ISO settings. But 5mp is more than sufficient for most users. What I did was physically touched and feel the camera at the store, then go on-line to purchase. But if you prefer to purchase at the stores, some good places are Best Buy, Wal Mart and Target. Suprisingly enough, they have good selection at Wal-Mart and Target.

and go to 'products' to 'consumer products' to lead you to the cameras. It tells you what the camera has and what it looks like up close.
While you're searching on-line, you'll also find many reviews on these cameras. All with many positives things to say about the camera and you can also find information on these 4 Canon models if you search in Yahoo! Tech http://tech.yahoo.com/rc/digital-cameras...
Good luck in your hunt for a new digital camera! I have 5 sony cyber-shots for sale on ebay $120-$150 used with no accessories.Check them out. http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQfgtpZ1QQfrpp... Rule #1: Price does not always dictate the quality of the pictures you will get out of a digital camera. The photographer is the one taking the picture.
Rule #2: Although Nikon and Canon are the two largest camera manufacturers out there, there are many more and most of them have been around for a long while. Companies that make crap aren't around for a long while.
Any digital camera you buy for less than $150 is likely very cheaply made and likely will fail or need to be replaced in less than 2 years (this really depends on many factors). This is not to say that more expensive cameras will not suffer the same fate: they are just more expensive and hopefully as such have higher quality, more expensive guts.
A Nikon E4600 sounds very old. Likely near 5 years or so. I believe anything you buy now (even the cheapest you can find) is much better in picture quality than the E4600.
You will get many devoted Canon and Nikon owners' opinions, but neither is 'The Best'. There simply is no such thing. Buy Nikon, Canon, Fuji, Pentax, or Olympus. These are the longest living companies out there (there may be more... like Samsung - they are f'in huge! - but I still hate 'em).
Finally look around at you local digital camera retailer (Best Buy, Walmart, Fry's Electronics, whatever) and then check out dpreview.com to find out as much as you want about the digital cameras you like the most. From epinions.com:

I think a good compact camera would be the Canon PowerShot SD600 / IXUS 60 Digital Camera. It's sleek, has a lot of user-friendly function, and is within your budget.
