A new digital camera?

I am going to get a camera for christmas and I found one I really like, does anyone have a Nikon Coolpix s50 (Black) camera? It was released on april 20th so it's quite new.

Thanks everyone, it'sgot good reviews on amazon so I think I'll go with it. Christmas is pretty far away still so a better one might come out still.

I had a Nikon Coolpix 5700 that I quit using less than a year ago. It was very user unfriendly. I now have a Kodak. In 15 minutes, I was doing things with that Kodak that I never could do in two years with the Nikon.

Maybe since this one's new, it's not as bad. But go to the store and look at one. See how it feels in your hands. Make sure the controls are easy for you to use. Look at the owner's manual and try the features you will actually use. If I had looked at the owner's manual and actually tried to do those things before I bought that Nikon, I never would have bought it. I had to learn my lesson the expensive way. Make sure you actually try to do those things; don't just read about them. What the Nikon owner's manual made look easy wasn't easy at all when I actually tried to do it.

Don't pay any attention to digital zoom. It's useless. Go for as much optical zoom as you can afford. That's more important than megapixels. A 5.0 megapixel will do very nice 8 x 10 pictures, even with some cropping. If you want larger pictures or 8 x 10 with a lot of cropping, go for more megapixels. The higher your optical zoom, the less cropping you'll have to do.

No, but I've heard that's a nice camera. You should go with what you like, I mean, it's you're camera. You're the one that's going to be seeing it...and the model, of course. xD
Good luck!

fine camera

You can search the Ebay .com and get one cheaper.

To read reviews on different cameras, you should try http://www.epinions.com. You can use the Digital Camera Buyer's guide and search for a camera with the amount of megapixels and zoom that you would like that are within your budget. I currently own an Olympus 310 and have had a very good experience with it. You may want to look into the Olympus 710. My friend owns an older model of the Nikon Coolpix and she's had it for a couple of years now. It also works very well. You may want to go to a store (Circuit City, Best Buy, etc) in person in order to see if you like the camera and also so that you can ask a salesperson what they would recommend.

I got summer this one: Casio Exilim 7.2 Mega Pixels EX-S770. I can tell you that I just love it. But if you want the newest one, what will you do whe will pass two months. You will one a newer?

be sure to check titles on the left side
the guide should answer your questions

Nikon's are not known for good point & shoot cameras, PERIOD !!! Their SLR cameras however are the best in the world along with Canon counterparts. I would go with a Sony Cybershot model or the Lumex brand by Panasonic. For the money these are the best point & shoot cameras on the market.
