Buying new digital camera today! budget 300?

my budget is 300 on the spot. I want a good digital camera, never had one before but i appreciate the quality. the nikon coolpix s6 catched my eye because of kate moss. but than again that commercial is been out for a while. any suggestions? or should i stick with nikon coolpix s6. please some suggestions

I got a kodak v530 for christmas in 2005, and i love it..mine has 5 mega pixels and takes really clear pictures. The size and look of it was one of the main selling points...its very small, can fit in your pocket. So far I havent had any trouble with it, and believe me, it has been dropped a number of times...still works perfect. The new model that came out this year has 6 megapixels and a larger viewing screen, but still looks about the same...you can get it at walmart for right at $300

it is like around $200 us not 300 , check it yourself.

The Canon Powershot A620 is a good camera mainly because of its 7.1 Megapixel Resolution. I got this camera last year, and it takes stunning pictures. It has a movable LCD Viewfinder. It also takes very good videos. It has 4x Optical Zoom, and 16x total zoom (Digital & Optical). See the link below. One downside is that you should buy a 512mb SD card (at least). The price is $250. Canon is a well trusted brand.

Which do you want sleek design or imagine quality. For imagine quality the Canon A620 is a great opinion to have. It has a larger sensor than any slim camera has so it will have crisper pictures but if you want a slim camera then this isnt for you. The Nikon Coolpix opitcs are not as good as the Canon SD600 and the SD600 gernerally has better picture quality over the S6 but it really depends one if you want Canon or Nikon. My vote is the Canon SD600.
