Hi, i'm 15 years old and planning to buy a new digital camera. I'm basically your average teen so I take pictures of friends/events/scenery/etc. So naturally i'd like to get a digital camera that has a lot of space and a good-sized screen, but also has a lot of different scene modes (like night, panorama, etc). I also want a camera that's easy to use and a good size (not too small, not too big or bulky). I also want a camera that's fast at taking pictures (I don't want to wait even for a couple seconds for the pic to appear). And also I want a camera that's not so sensitive and blurs easily when I take pics (my sister has that problem, she has a nikon), so I want it to be a steady camera. Kodak would be the preferable brand, but i'm open to any suggestions. It would help a lot also if someone suggested to me what size memory card I should get (I want to be able to take a lot of pics/have a lot video time).
Price range i'm going for is under $200.
Thanks so much! Spend a little more and get Canon Powershot SD630.. has 4" screen and everything you're looking for.. also it can take black and white and only make one object red or blue or any color.. expl.. you take a pic of you holding a rose.. everything is black and white except rose is red. that's cool...
I have 2mb and I can take like a 1000 good quality pic. but if you want more get 4mb you won't need more than that. fujifilm fine pix s700
awesome awesome camera very easy to use, better than many kodaks I have seen. especially for the price, which happens to be in your price range. designed for the "serious amatuer photogapher". there are $500 kodaks that arent this good. I have done lots of research. stores can barely keep them on the shelves. lots of different neat stuff you can do with it, but as you are learning, the "auto" setting works fantastically for almost everything.
the sales person can help you with the memory card, as I dont remember...
but good luck! Awesome! I am so glad you took the time to provide details so that it would make it easier to recommend you the right camera. The cameras that I will recommend are all under $200. No camera will do exactly what you want it to do. You need to tolerate it's weaknesses as well. Well my choices are as follows.
- Canon PowerShot A630
- Canon PowerShot A570 IS
- Canon PowerShot A560
- Fujifilm F30
The A630 and A570 are just under $200. The A560 is the cheapest whereas the F30 is in the middle of the price range.
All these cameras will offer you difference scene modes. What I like about the A570 and A630 is that it offers more advanced manual modes. Sure the other two offer manual modes but these aren't full manual. The idea of full manual mode is you control both the shutter speed and the aperture. This gives you more flexibility and the capability to learn and significantly improve your photography. If you aren't too interested in these manual modes, don't worry about it. It's extra feature so you don't have to use it if you don't want to.
What I like about the Fuji F30 is that it is great at taking pictures without flash indoors. It may be the best one among these cameras at doing so. The feature it has is it has very low noise at high ISO. It's disadvantage is that it's not as fast at focusing as the Canon cameras.
The A560 seems to be the best value in terms of functionality, speed, simplicity, and image quality. It may not be as fast in low lighting as it's more expensive siblings.
The Canon cameras above all take AA batteries. The Fuji uses a proprietary lithium. Sony Cybershot DSC-W80, 7.2 Megapixel, 3x Optical/2x Digital Zoom, Digital Camera (Silver)

http://www.bwayphoto.com/results.asp?fc=... Even though I personally own this ultra compact camera, I would still like to highly recommend the purchase of a Nikon Coolpix L10 for the following reasons:
1. Besides taking well-exposed hi-quality 5 megapixel pictures, it uses a standard set of rechargeable double AA batteries which last a very long time;
2. Has a 3x optical zoom;
3. The flash setting for "red-eye" correction is on the navigator wheel and not within a submenu;
4. It's very small and light;
5. Uses inexpensive SD memory cards;
6. The digital video feature takes wonderful "sound" videos which are noise free. It records the piano very well with it's built-in microphone;
7. Has macro feature for closeups under 6 inches;
8. It comes with a USB 2.0 transfer cable which you connect to your USB computer port;
9. Has tripod mount on bottom of camera;
10. And the price is a mere $119 [sold at Samy's Camera - www.samys.com, and Staples.com.]

Good luck! I cannot make a better recommendation than the other earlier replies, but I am curious about the blurring that you mention. There is no such thing as a steady hand-held camera (the human body is anything but steady). Suggest to your sister that taking a picture using a sturdy tripod (or standing camera on a solid object ) will stop blurring, as will using a FAST speed in VERY good light. Another minor skill that you may want to acquire is to get a camera with good viewfinder and practice keeping it still. Taking a picture at arms length while watching the screen is quite a challenge, especially for people without perfect eyesight. I've always been comfortable using Fujifilm cameras, I've had ones that could fit easily in my pocket, or large/bulky SLR ones. You can check the fujifilm website to check those cameras out.
As for your memory card, I would suggest a 1gb size. These may be more expensive, but hold hundreds or thousands of pictures. |
