I have a model of camera made by Nikon called "Coolpix 3200". Up until Mardi Gras, I've been able to insert the memory card into the computer and upload photos.(My cat chewed up the cord.)But on Mardi Gras, when I tried to upload photos, it erased them all! I got a new memory card, so does it depend on the memory card, camera, computer, or what? Did you 'copy' the photo files or 'move' them? If you moved them, then the memory card would be empty afterwards. Also, some software will ask you if you want to delete the copied files from the memory card after you've copied them. If you accidently clicked on 'yes', then they'll disappear.
The problem, if any, has nothing to do with your Coolpix, but more likely with the interface for your software.
Hope this helps. This does sound more like you might have picked the incorrect task....
First, try to find the USB cable....they are common...I think most office supply stores sell them....
I doubt you needed a new memory card, but that's past....
The correct process would be to let XP Pro (if that's what your using) recognize and open the drive automatically....
Then COPY the files to your hard drive....or use Picasa to import them, since it will load automatically on seeing Jpgs on the card....Picasa then will ask you if you want to wipe the card (you don't usually!), or just erase them, so the counter remembers where you stopped shooting, and the card makes the space available again. |
