I intend to buy compact size digital camera which give sharp images.?

Cannon S5is or G7 better ? is it true Nikon and sony camera
give sharper image with clearer details ? My budget is less than SGD 1000.

First of all, these two cameras are in different 'classes'. the S5 is an 'ultrazoom', which means it has a smaller sensor- so less quality. However, if your application requires a long zoom, they're perfect (bird watching, kids' soccer games) I haven't seen a review yet on the S5, but the S3IS was pretty good. the image quality on the G7 will be better than the S5, as it has a bigger ccd and less zoom on the lens.

No. It is not true that Nikon and Sony give sharper images than a Canon. It really depends on the individual model. The Nikon P5000 might compare the the Canon G7, but don't buy it, as it's way too slow to focus.

The Sony H-series cameras (H2, H6, H7, etc) compare to the Canon S3/S5IS series. However, the newest Sony H7, H9 models have been panned for a lousy user interface.

i prefer canon. ;] never buy a sharp, it sucks it builds up moist inside and soon it'll be broken. the greatest ccam i got is canon.. :]
