I was told they sometimes have a problem at around 10,000 shots. I'm at 25,000 and so far so good. I have two other Nikon digital cameras so I'm not too worried about it breaking down. I use it for weddings. ( I have two D80s...I hope they last a long time) The D50 shutter is rated at a duty cycle of 50,000. The D200 is rated at more than 100,000. I do not know about the D70s, but I would assume that it is at least 50,000 and probably more. I have a D70 and I have not had any problems, I've had mine for about 2 years now. I love my D70.
