I broke my digital camera monitor/viewing screen - can this be fixed?

I stood on my camera Nikon Coolpix 4600 and the monitor has cracked and is unusable (though I have been able to turn it on and download my photos, so presumably everything else works). I'm wondering can it be fixed? If so any idea how much this would cost or would I be better just to replace the camera?

yeah but it will take a lot of time, work and money, cuz you'll maybe have to sent it to the manufacturer to get it fixed

Get an estimate for the repair first. You may be better off getting a new camera instead.

It would be better just to replace the camera. If you go to pricegrabber.com the coolpix 4600 sells for $124.95, which is very reasonable. If the monitor can be fixed, the money and the waiting time isn't worth it in my opinion. Remember, labor cost is expensive in this country.

I had a friend fix his Canon G3 camera. It was something like $150 (and the camera was worth maybe $200 used). And eventually it failed again. Many of modern consumer goods were design with very little repair in mind. And once repaired, the quality of your camera will be largely dependent on the proficiency of the repairman.

My recommendation is to buy another camera (and may be recoup something by selling yours on eBay - just let the buyer know what is wrong).

I have to agree with most of the rest on here. Those things are expensive to fix and I am afraid it will be much better to just get a new one and chaulk it up as a lesson well learned.
