Digital camera help please!!?

I lost the usb port thing that connects my camera to my computer to put my pictures on the computer. I have a nikon camera. Can i go to the store and buy a new one? if so what exactly am i asking for and does it have to be a specific kind for my camera

if your camera has a USB port, no problem, if not you probably have to get the cable from Nikon.

Not sure about your model specifically, but most digital cameras use one of 3 or 4 standard USB cables. That's good news for consumers - almost a standard! It means the same USB cable used in your friend's camera (or watch or video camera or programmable remote or whatever) has a good chance of fitting your Nikon. In any event, you will want your own cable, so:

1. Bring your Nikon to the store with you. They can lookup the exact cable for that model and probably provide it on the spot.

2. You can visit the Nikon web site yourself, find your camera, and lookup available accessories. You can get the part number for the USB cable this way. Then, either order it on-line or call around to the camera shops to see who's got one in stock.

3. Alternately (what I would do, personally), bring your Nikon camera to any Radio Shack and explain what you need. They have all the stanard USB cables there, including one with multiple plug-in adapters to fit any device (around $30 for this one). If it doesn't fit, Radio Shack will give a full refund with no hassle.
