Is Nikon 65 a good camera?

After seeing what my brother paid for his Nikon 65 digital camera plus a telephoto lense a regular smaller lense, I thought that buying it from him for $200 was a good deal. He originally bought it for $800 but recently upgraded to digital. Plus it was nice to know the camera came from someone who took decent care of it.

Did I get a good deal for it? Or did I pay too much for something that is out of date? I am aware that film cameras are now pretty much not used and replaced with digital cameras, but I really wanted a camera capable of taking very good (near professional) photographs.

Was this a good buy?

Looks like a reasonable deal, especially considering the "known" history of the equipment.

Here is a web site that sells used equipment. You can check out the specific camera model (Body) and lenses to get a good idea of prices. KEH has a good reputation and their prices are generally realistic. I often look there to compare prices of items on eBay because I would rather buy an item with a guarantee unless I can save significantly at auction. And you would be amazed at how many people pay way more for something on auction than what they can order it for.

i use to be a nikon fan before everything started with the digital era and i can tell you that nikon 65 is a decent camera, very good results from it and the price i think it's ok

Not at all. The digital revolution has exploded on the market today and at very affordable prices. The quality is matched with that of film in many cases. You do not need the hassles of running your film in for development only to find out that you should have composed it differently or used a different exposure. Digital cameras allow you to see your results right away. The rest of the world wants convenience. Photographers are no different and no less deserving of it! Get it right. Get it digital. And get it now!

Something people need to realize - it's not the camera that produces professional results, it's the photographer.

With that being said.. It looks like you got yourself a nice buy. It was reasonbally priced and Nikon has always produced products that will last over time and continue to provide constant results.

I know hundreds of professional photographers who still only use film. Film will never be replaced or be out dated.
