What is the best camera, between cannon and nikon?

Both are great cameras and the choice of professionals. There is little if any difference in quality. Go to a camera store and play around with both. The one you find most comfortable to hold and use will be the camera for you. They both have basically the same features and a large selection of lenses.
The only other thing I will say is that all Canon lenses will work on any Canon camera body.
The Nikon D40 and D60 can use all Nikon lenses but the autofocus will only work on AF-S and AF-I lenses.

i can only say both offer great products. It depends on which model you are looking at. Historically, Nikon is known for their great lenses. Cannon is the black horse. Their products are user-friendly mostly. Both cater different needs and wants.
Judging whether a camera is good merely based on brand is sooo unfair to the camera. ('.')v

In general, NIKON. Its a brand camera. However, pl do compare the models before you buy. Happy shooting.
