What is a good lense to use with a Nikon D70s camera for longer shots?

I presume by longer shots you mean "telephoto shots."

It will depend on how much money you want to spend. At the low end, the 70-300mm AF lens is the least expensive. A slightly more expensive option is the 70-300mm lens with VR (vibration reduction).

Even better would be an 80-400mm lens. Nikon has an 80-400mm VR lens, but I actually prefer the Sigma 80-400mm OS (optically stabilized) lens. If you want even more magnification, try the Sigma 50-500mm zoom; Nikon has nothing like it and it's a very good performer.

Nikon's pro zoom is the 200-400mm f/4. However, there's a price to match its performance.

The most affordable lens would be the 70-300mm and if you can afford it the same length lens with VR

If you want to shoot landscapes, the 12-24mm is a good choice
