Nikon Cool Pix?

I was thinking about buying a Nikon Cool Pix because I heard that it was a very good camera. Does anyone know the shutter speed? That matters a lot to me when buying a camera to know that it takes picture quick. I need help!

With any camera, the shutter speed will vary, depending on the brightness of the subject, the ISO rating to which the imager is currently set, the aperture setting (f-number) of the lens, and a few other things that either don't come into play for casual photographers or that usually have a comparatively small effect.

Assuming that the camera has plenty of light, the photographer can trade off between exposure time (the inverse of shutter speed), aperture setting, and ISO rating to get a well-exposed shot. The scene modes on some camera models give the camera a hint about what kind of subject is being shot so that it can make a more intelligent tradeoff among these parameters. In sports mode, for example, the camera is expecting a moving subject so will try for a fast shutter speed to minimize motion blur. On the other hand, in landscape mode, the camera will try for a moderate to small lens opening to maximize image sharpness and may also lock the focus at infinity. The small opening will also mean a slower than maximum shutter speed.

A high ISO rating will allow a faster shutter speed than would otherwise allow an adequate exposure, the penalty being a grainier, blotchier, noisier image or more smearing and obliteration of fine, low-contrast detail to counteract the image noise.
