I need help with my Nikon D40?

I just purchased a Nikon D40 and I can't figure out how to get the ISO to 100. I can change it from 200-400-600-800-1600, but I don't know how to change it to 100...or if the camera will even let me (is there a 1000 setting that I'm also missing?). Also, the lowest fstop I can get is 4.8...I want to get 2.6 ~ any suggestions? I've looked in the manuel but I can't find anything.

ISO 200 is the lowest for your camera.

The aperture is lens based. If your lens isnt an f/2.8 lens then you cant go that low/wide/fast. You would probably know if your lens was 2.8. They are more expensive, some are twice as expensive as your whole camera.

It isn't a point and shoot camera, the lowest iso on the nikon d40 digital single lens reflex is 200- and the highest is H1, and it doesn't have a 1000 ISO. But, i can see where you're coming from, i wish there was a 100 ISO on the nikon d40 too. B.T.W, i have the nikon d40 :P. Oh, and when you zoom in, the lowest aperture rating will go up, you can't control that unless you zoom back out. Unfortunately, our d40's aren't like point and shoots=(.
When you zoom, the lowest f-stop goes up too, that's just how it goes. So, there's nothing wrong with your nikon d40

Regards
Nathan
