Opinion on a camera from someone knowledgeable Please! :)?

I need someone's opinon on this camera please

http://www.nikonusa.com/Find-Your-Nikon/...

If you don't want to use the link there. It is the Nikon Coolpix S550. I'd like to know your full opinion on the camera and the functions. Thank you very very much!

Hi SF. I am sure there are a few people who have that camera and might be able to give you their personal opinion, but if you want a professional opinion from photographers that have field tested the camera, I would check out the site
DPReview ( .com). For most cameras there is a couple of pages of pros and CONS .. Not just pros. And a run down on specs, functions, ratings, performance, size and weight.... you name it and it is address for prospective buyers to make informed decisions. Take a look. Good luck !!

I'm having trouble finding good information on that camera. For example, a lot of web pages claim it has a time lapse mode, but don't specify what time intervals it will do. Personally, because I take pictures in low light I would get a camera with a larger sensor.

good - uses lithium ion battery
good - 5X optical zoom
Bad - small sensor
bad - I couldn't find the manual on Nikon's web site

maybe - It goes up to ISO 2000, but that's go guarantee it takes good pictures at that setting
maybe - I can't find details about the type of vibration reduction it uses so I know how good it is
maybe - It claims to have a "frame movie mode" but doesn't explain what it means by that.
maybe - It has a time lapse mode that will shoot up to 1800 pictures, but only as close as 30 seconds apart.

Hello --

Cool Camera! I read the features and it seems to be a pretty good buy.

A quick look at the specs tells me it is up-to-date as far as features. The zoom could be a little more powerful, 5X optical is good though (it doesn't tell what the electronic zoom is perhaps -- it doesn't have any?).

The only thing I don't like is the size -- I like a larger camera, but its a matter of personal taste.

Good luck,

W. H.
