Would someone help me change the size of a picture in my digital camera?

I have a Nikon Coolpix S210. I am attempting to e-mail pictures from the camera, but they keep coming out humongous. I tried downloading to my PC first, but I still got the same result. How do I change the size of my picture from 3500 x 2200 to 500 x 500, or at least so it isn't so big that it will barely fit on my computer screen?

You really don't want to do that .. If you ever want to make a print larger that 4x6 inches, you need to use the highest resolution you camera will support.

Then pick out the images you want to email and resize only those to 600 x 400 pixels @ 72 DPI but remember to rename that email file as a different name so you do not overwrite the original I rename my email files by putting an "i" in front of the original file name (DRS_1234 becomes iDRS_1234, thus saving the original file and making the new file obviously Internet ready)

One quick and easy way, but only if you have a PC with Windows XP:

Go to Microsoft's site and download and install the Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP Image Resizer. This will actually add the ability to down-size images to about about any size you would want. Once you have it installed, all you have to do is right-click on an image, and the "Resize Pictures" option will be there.
A new menu will open and give you 4 choices. You can click on the "advanced" menu to set a custom size, although this option does not automatically keep the aspect ratio. There is a check box that allow you to only down-size the image. You will be creating a copy of the image unless you choose to check the "Resize the original picture". (Like the previous poster said, this really is not the best option. Save the originals for printing, and the resized copies for email).

Here is the link to the Image Resizer:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downl...

The easiest way, if you don't have a photo editing program in your computer, is to open it in Paint. Then, go to Image on the toolbar. Chose Resize, then chose 15% for both length and width. That will give you an image that's 525 x 330.

Do a Save As, giving your image a new name (eg: DSC1234 becomes DSC1234a) so the original is not erased and can be modified or printed out in the future.

Try different percentages and see what works best for your needs. Be sure you keep the percentage of reduction the same for both aspects or your image will be distorted.

There are free programs out there, but your computer already has Paint.

Hope this helps.
