Buddhists: Is it offensive to wear a buddhist rosary if I am not buddhist myself? |
I want to use it for a religious photography project that involves a nude female model wearing it around her neck and holding it in her hands. Please be specific as to why or why not! It would most likely be offensive to the watered down buddist, but to the true buddist, he would most likley understands there are people out there who can think of nothing more artistic than peeing in a frame with the picture of Jesus in it or using a religious symbol in a photo that they would most likly find offensive. A true buddist would most likly not even pay attention but to be sure beware of the make believe buddist. Wearing a football uniform is not offensive but to show up to a professional golf tourniment in it would be. It is how you use and associate their symbols not the naked body you display it on. maybe. you shouldn't take any chances though. try to look it up on the internet or something. It probably helps to research anything you are going to include in art. Otherwise it is foolish and pretentious. I am not sure of the correct answer but in my opinion Nudity and Religious Medals just dont go together. Most religions dont look highly on nude pictures, add the medal and its kind of offensive. i'm a buddhist. personally it is ok with me. but how will the public react? if you intend to use the photo as an art project, can't you use something else? some people will find it offensive even they're not buddhist |
