In art, which seems to be considered more beautiful... the nude female form or the nude male form? |
Sculpture, painting, photography etc... That's a question that's up for interpretation, but historically it seems that it depends on the artist's preference. For example, Michelangelo and Rapheal both made beautiful sculptures of David. Then again artists like Titian and Ingres did paintings considered "academic nudes" which were based on mythology. These were popular with 15th and 16th century noblemen because it allowed them to admire the female form in their homes under the guise of academia. While modern artists like Picasso, Matisse, and Gauguin were all associated with a style called "Primitivism" (This term is no longer used). They appreciated how the women existed in their natural state. So trends, and styles, and ideas have come and gone, but what really matters is the preference of the artist or viewer. Both are equally beautiful. Unfortunately at this point in time, it's female. But the times, they are a changin'! :) Nude female. Why YOU baby! What part of Va. are you from or is that not your name? I don't know, but as a female I think a nude male form is definitely more beautiful! Its all in the eye of the beholder what is magically beautiful to some is disgustingly loathing to others. Hence individuality. |
