Does anyone know if there is still a large market for "gothic" photography? |
I am thinking of going into some "darker" subject matter, nothing too gory or exceptionally graphic, but maybe including some nudes but along the lines of darker "gothic" photography. I want to know if its worth worrying about finding models and the like, or if my money could be spent better some other way. Make your own market. Do what you like, do it well and do it with originality. Don't copy other people's work or style. If you like goth do goth, but show us new goth, not the same old girl in a corset with her bleeding hands tied. Sooo old. I would say that theres a huge market for it. At least from my personal aspect I know a lot of gothic people who love art/ photography. I would love to find someone who would take goth pics of me but photographers kind of look @ you funny when you ask them things like that. I say go for it good luck! Lol.....goth's don't have any money (for anything except drugs), silly. Its not mainstream, persay, but it is popular in the subculture. SuicideGirls, ring a bell? Magazines, private prints, etc. A similar line would be Fetish Photography. You can always have an audience with the darker photography, just its not going to make you famous, and some people might look at it as pr0n-like. |
