What EF lens should I use for nude photography? You haven't mentioned which canon camera you use. If it is a film camera or if it is full frame DSLR like EOS 1Ds Mark II or EOS 5D then you should buy a standard portrait lens : an 85 mm, a 28-135 IS, or 24-105 IS USM, 70-200 f2.8 L IS USM. If you are using cameras with 1.6 factor like EOS 350D, 400D, 30D etc then buy a 50 mm 1.4 lens along with the other lenses listed earlier. Well, it depends on the light. Will you be indoors, or out? Outdoors you can get away with a cheaper lens, indoors you need a larger maximum aperture unless you are using a flash. You probably don't want to go larger than a f2.8 aperture or you will not get the entire subject in focus. A 50mm is closest to the natural eye, 135mm is telephoto, so you might want something in between 50mm and 135mm. Depends on how far away the subject is, the effect you want to create and various other factors. A nice one would be either the 24-85 USM or 28-105 USM lens |
