Can i shoot beautiful nude fine art erotic photography just by learning lighting? |
can i shoot beautiful nude fine art erotic photography just by learning lighting? or do i still need to learn specifically nude photography? ( IM NOT A MANIAC! Im just curious how they can get the lighting right like in the shoots for playboy and penthouse) Lighting certainly is important, but so is the pose, the model's looks, the expression, any foreground, background, etc. From what I've seen many fine art nude photographers are not full time professionals and largely self-taught. Unlike pornography, fashion or glamour photography which is driven by a large demand, it's hard to make a living as a fine art photographer. (especially nude fine art.) Personally, I like that I can do it for what I find artistic and not be driven by market forces. Check out some good books on photographing people and spend a lot of time looking at photos you like to see what it is about them that you find appealing. You'll probably do better at producing what you enjoy. While many would agree that the photographers for playboy and penthuse are very talented, I think many would not see those photos as fine art, but more along the lines of glamour or pin-up art. playboy and penthouse = the fine art of air brush. ; -) you can just work with lighting issues with anything, still life or portaits. just try different things, you'll get a lot of different results. In erotic nude photography your subject has a lot to do with the quality of the picture! Although, there can be no photography with out light. It might help to learn a little of the other things, too. Playboy or Penthouse are magazines that have always depended on the best shots. Its thier Bread and Butter and they aren't going to waist their time hiring photographers that cut corners with there education! Good Luck! in photography as important as light is, other factors matter too. a good photo would be one where everything is great - the camera's capabilities combined with use of light, composition, the subject, the underlying theme etc. YOU will need to bring it all together. the easiest way to go about it is to play with it. use different kinds of light sources - all from different angles and do give what you want to shoot, why and how some thought. then study the results and then you will eventually become a pro..;) b.f.a. general studio - painting/photography |
