I want a good name brand camera...Like this one that is not alot of money but will deliever great high quality pictures with image stability.Image stability is important to me since I want to take my bro's kids pictures and they are babies so they move alot,lol.And I want that camera for a hockey game.But I've heard on a website that this camera does not have image stability and on others that it does have it.So please help.And this camera is pretty big so if someone could help me out with a pocket size camera instead and does mostly the same thing I would love it.I really want high quality pictures because I want to keep that camera for a long time and have great pictures.Is it true that now you can have optical image stability instead of digital zoom?Which is best? the stabilizer stops your hands from shaking

go to canonusa.com IS is a great feature- and I'd certainly recommend it, especially for cameras that don't have good low light capability. Note, that for a hocky game- it won't help you freeze fast moving players. What IS allows you to do is use a slower shutter speed by reducing hand shake.
As far as the Oly 510- it's not best in class. Some terrific ultra zoom cameras are ones like the Canon S3IS, Sony H2, H6, or Panasonic FZ50, FZ7 (or just announced FZ8).
But to capture fast motion- you might want to go with a camera that has better high ISO capability, such as the Fuji S6500fd.
Oly just announced an upgrade to the 510, called the SP550UZ. It will be a couple months before it's available, but the specs are great. An amazing 18x zoom, high ISO, fast continuous mode- it really *sounds* great. But, I'd wait for some reviews on the camera before I plinked down the money. the 18x zoom might sacrifice image quality. |
