What software/programs do I need for my computer when loading pictures from a digital camera onto it?

If you running windows XP, ME or VISTA then nothing really unless you want to do photo cropping or add text, then you would want something like Photoshop.

Just the file manager you have on your Mac or PC.

You may want to get a $15 card reader too. It will save you a lot of grief.

For digital darkroom work, use the program that came with your camera.

Depending on what operating system you have (XP, Vista, MAC, etc.) Windows comes with a image uploader already installed on the computer.

All you would need is either the cord to connect your camera to the computer's USB port, or a card reader to plug your memory card into, and the reader will then plug into your computer's USB port.

As for editing pictures, there are lots of different programs that you can use.

One of the most popular one's is Photoshop. You can get the trial version from Adobe.com .
