I have a fujifilm a-500. And an olympus 256mb memory card. Recently i was taking pictures and all of a sudden it won't let me take pictures, it reads " Write Error" on the LCD. i also cannot delete pictures because it displays a " Card Error" message. I am also unable to upload the photos on my camera to my computer.
Help please? First connect your card to the computer using a card reader.
If you find any image files on it, copy them to your computer.
Format the card using the format feature on your fujifilm A-500.
In the future, after you move your images to your computer, format the card ... do not use the "delete" button or feature on your camera. It can only lead to grief Step 1: Get a USB Card memory card reader
Step 2: Get photo recovery software, such as:
http://www.photosrecovery.com/
and install it on your computer.
Step 3: Plug the USB card reader into the USB port of your computer, then put the card in.
Step 4: run the photo recovery software and save the rescued photos on your hard drive.
Step 5: After you've finished rescuing, then format the memory card by right clicking on the driver letter for the memory card and selecting "format" Choose "FAT" as the formatting option. DO NOT FORMAT YOUR HARD DRIVE.
You've now recovered the photos and then formatted the card to take more photos. Keep an eye on the card to see if the problem returns, in case the card is going bad. The above suggestions are great. But I want you to be aware that memory cards have a limited lifespan. Like all data storage, they can go bad without notice. That's why it's suggested that you always download your images to your computer. I then copy them to portable Harddrives (I have a collection of them), flashdrives, and/or burn them to cd's.
Step one: Get some more memory. XD cards are coming down in price and a 1 or 2gb card should be very reasonable.
