Can I down load camera memory card photo's to my pc?

Olympus digital 500 camera. Model #610514125 Ser. #D-33235. Can the memory card data be down loaded to my PC ("E" Machine W3115) (Windows XP ) ( Digital Media Manager SD/MMC/SM/MS/MS-Pro/xD & CF Microdrive)

That is the design. How else could you save your images?

Just put the card in the card reader (xD) and drag and drop the image files to your computer to a file folder that you have named something that will remind you of what is in it.

Don't forget to make a backup CD when you get 650MB of image files.

Sure you can. Just take the memory card to your Digital Media Manager. Your PC will recognize it as another drive and you can do whatever you please with the files inside - copy, move, delete or copy another file from the PC onto the memory card (although you camera may not read the files).

Looking at the Olympus web site, it looks like the E-500 uses both xD and CF cards. So if your Digital Medai Manager can read both styles, then it's a simple matter of removing the card from your camera and putting it in the Digital Media Manager. Then just open the card.

You may have to open a file or two to find the photos, but they should be there. You will need a photo reader loaded on your hard disk, but these come standard with newer machines.

You can also use your computer's hard disk to store all the images. You can even write them to a CD-R for more permanent storage. Once you've done that, you can then reformat your memory card and reuse it.
