Digital camera - should I get Olympus or Sony?

I like the durability of Olympus but I also like Sony's style. My budget is around $500-$600 (the most).
Please give reasons why you would recommend either, or pros and cons of each. Please also provide the recommended model number if possible, and the colours available. Thanks!

Olympus.. photos are crisper, better colors than a Sony.

That is a tough one. Both use non-standard memory cards (Sony a proprietary card only used by Sony products and Olympus the dX card used by only one other company, FujiFilm). The most common memory card used in compact digital cameras is the SD.

You may want to re-think this.

i would go with olympus... you may not get as many features, but the quality will be better. SOny overall is a common brand in electronics, but they are more "mass" produced and are usually made for average wear and dont have quite a long life span, olympus is a good brand becuase they pay more attention to quality. My friend has an olympus and her pictures are amazing and has enver had any compluications with it. It would also depend what features you want and how advanced you want. Try checking reviews at cnet.com..... or type in digital camera reviews in yahoo search. I did that when i was planning to buy a camera (read user reviews) and i am glad i did. I ended up getting a great camera becuase i chose one with great reviews. I would also recommend canon over sony (thats what i have an i love it.. its 3 yrs old now and still works great !)
