Whats the best brand of digital camera for a TEEN (13-16 years) of age?!?

I heard Olympus was a goood brand...tell me if i am wrong. if you have an olympus camera...tell me about it and if you like it. otherwise, what other brands work well? (and will last..too!)

The Olympus cameras are very well made.

You should consider the 850 SW, which is very sturdily made, with lots of cool features. It's compact, shockproof (made to be able to with stand a drop onto concrete from desk height), waterproof.. you could go swimming with it!), excellent in camera panorama mode- you can take several photos that overlap a little bit side by side, and the camera will merge them, you don't have to wait until you upload them on your computer and have other software do it.

You should also consider Canon Sureshots. Most anything like the A590, or the SD1100 would also be good fits for you.

I think it's VERY important at this age to be BRAND conscious. You don't want to be stuck in an awkward situation where you whip out your "brand x" camera at a party and your friends know that "brand y" is obviously considered the cooler and hipper brand. Then you would really feel embarrassed wouldn't you. Trust me it's the logo on the front of the camera that makes all the difference between a good camera and a bad camera.

some people tend not to like their regular point and shoot cameras, but their digital SLR's are a different story, they are very good cameras, and are light-weight, and quite affordable if you have an SLR budget. If You're going to get a point and shoot camera, you should get:

A Nikon Or A Canon Camera..
Not An Olympus..

But, if you're getting a DSLR:
you should really consider
Olympus, Sony, Nikon, And Canon

i'm not so sure why, but some brands' point and shoot cameras aren't 1/2 as good as their digital single lens reflex cameras. sony's digital SLRs and Olympus' Ones are great ones too. But nikon and canon make great cameras in both categories.

I have an Olympus digital 6.0 megapixel camera...its just basic, it does what i need it to, it holds up great (i've dropped it numerous times and it still works great), it has the video option...i love it, its my second Olympus camera (my first one still works great, it was just the first digital camera to come out by olympus and i wanted to upgrade, this one is smaller and much easier to handle)...

I say olympus is a great brand, esp for teen bc you're not investing a large amount of money into something that, like mine, is dropped-- teens take their cameras EVERYWHERE and its something that you want to work well and last and be reasonably priced, which Olympus is!

As you said Teen i think you want a point and shoot. Olympus WAS a great brand but nowadays their point and shoot cameras are disappointing. I own one Olympus and one Panasonic. even tho Panasonic is older than Olympus i like it's pictures quality more. The Panasonics are doing Lot with their great Leica lenses. believe me and obtain one ultra compact Panasonic such as FX33 or FX100. they are very easy to use and really unbelievable made and picture quality.

If I were buying a camera for a teen I'd choose the Olympus Stylus 850SW. Waterproof to 10' and shockproof to a 5' drop.

Second choice but more expensive would be the Olympus Stylus 1030SW. Waterproof to 30', shockproof to a 6' drop and crush proof to 220 pounds.

Kodak, Canon, or Fujifilm.
