I bought the cable I was supposed to, but I can't find the hole in my computer!!! Please help. More details.

I have a Panasonic PVDV200 digital camcorder, and in the manual it says to get a DVI cable IEEE 1394 with a pin between 4 and 6. Well I did, and the one end fits into my camera fine, but I can't find where to connect it to my PC! Very frustrating, I know. I have a Dell computer with Windows XP. Do I have to use an older computer for this?? I am so clueless.

I'm trying to connect my camcorder to the PC so I can edit my French project.

You need a firewire card put into your computer. http://tinyurl.com/y8gmmj This one is only $11 and I'm sure it's what your missing. When you get one all you do is slide it's side into place inside your computer. Any slot that it will go into will work so don't worry about doing it wrong. When you've done that you can connect your camera through the firewire (IEE1394) port you just installed.

plug evey thing in the hole and try to do it diffren

its usually the USB (2.0) drive. thats the the one on the front (facing you) side of the computer (It can also be behind, I have two in front and two in back) its shaped like a rectagle. hope this helps, good luck.

What you need is a Firewire card. Ran into the same problem. You can get one from TigerDirect for about $15 or try Radio Shack or Circut City. They might have one if you are in a hurry.
