How can I update my USB to 2.0? |
I have a digital camera that is not working with my computer. Panasonic tells me it's nothing wrong with the camera. Microsoft tells me it's nothing wrong with my computer. The only thing I can figure is that it's my older USB port. I don't know for sure which USB I have but this is a 5 year old computer so I doubt it's the newer version. I am also looking into getting an MP3 player soon but want to make sure it will work with my USB. Is there something I can purchase to upgrade my USB ports? I have the Microsoft pack installed from a while back. I also have other USB devices (i.e. my mouse and sound card and printer) attached to the laptop. All work just fine. The camera works with my roommate's computer on the same operating system and also with the computers on campus. Because it works with these other computers, Panasonic tells me it's not the camera that is defective. Microsoft has helped me do a full scan of my system and they say it's nothing wrong with my system. I'm at a loss. The cheapiest way would be to buy a USB Hub that is 2.0. Thanks Plugging a 2.0 USB Hub in a 1.1 usb port on your motherboard won't make the ports on the USB hub it USB 2.0, they will still be USB 1.1 ports. Report It Buy an USB 2.0 PCI card. Like these: Well, to update your USB to 2.0, here's how you proceed: As always when it comes to USB equipment it is always "BACKWARD" compatible, even it is rated for 2.0. If you are having trouble with your port try something else that is USB, it just might be a bad port or it might be the camera itself. No amount of software is going to upgrade to the 2.0 standard. |
