I don't know enough on digital cameras, which one should I buy?

I鈥檓 in a quest to buy a new digital camera. My budget is between $200 and $240. I like taking pictures while on vacation or simply when I want to capture a sweet memory or an unforgettable scene.
I don鈥檛 know *any* specifics on cameras but I know well enough the cheap ones do me no good! Lol鈥?br>
Do you have any advice or can you recommend one?
I am considering getting one direct from Panasonic (I receive a company discount) but I'm not picky on the brand.

Your help is greatly appreciated!

Thank you all for your suggestions! Very Helpful!

IF you could possibly stretch your budget a little more, you can get the Canon S3 iS for $350; it has all the automatic features you need, a 12X zoom lens that will have you spying on the next country (well, not really...) and it's a 6-megapixel camera (that enables you to print very large photos with great details). It does NOT have interchangeable lens capacity but with that immense focal range on the zoom lens, you really won't need it. You are sure to enjoy this camera for many years to come

www.beachcamera.com has this dandy camera available for $350 and you won't pay taxes or shipping charges! Good luck and best wishes.

Kodak Easyshares are nice cameras. I just bought one with 6 megapixels for under $200 and it works great. I thought my last camera worked well but this one blows it away!

well cheap and good arent the same thing.... I would recomend a casio with the highest mega-pixel you can afford. Also the larger the SD you buy the better.

Fujifilm FinePix F30. It's small, eary to carry, and it produces excellent photos. It's just an awesome little camera. Much better than Panasonic. Check out reviews at www.dpreview.com or www.dcresource.com. Better yet Goggle "digital camera reviews".

Whatever u spend,I wd say u should buy nikon.

If you're serious about photography, try to save up for an SLR-body digital camera with the option to change lenses. Canon makes several, as does Nikon. I saw a Nikon on clearance recently for under $400. If you're not much of a photographer, try to get something with at least 4 megapixels (35mm film is about 10 megapixels), so that you can print nice photos. Also, look for something with a nice zoom feature.

if this is your first digital camera, Canons are recommended since they are well-known to be 'idiot-proof' for first-timers (im not saying you are an idiot, it's just Canons are known to be like that and many professional photographers prefer Canon for its user-friendliness compared to its rival Nikon)
Personally, I use Nikon (Nikon D50 to be exact)
But i would recommend getting a Canon...(I am contemplating getting a Canon actually...just coz it's easier to use)
you can have a look at some websites that do comparisons between different cameras, that might be helpful. :) here is one to start you off (i apologise that the prices are in GBP though)

Read the digital camera guide on ebay. Lots of info there to help you.
