I'm looking for a good 6MP digital camera with a 5+ optical zoom. Can anyone give me any recommendations?

I've seen the Panasonic DMC-LZ5EB-S which looks quite goo but a bit chunky. I'm wondering if there is anything smaller?

I'm looking to spend no more than around 拢200.

I have the Canon S2 iS which cost me about 拢350, but the price has gone down to about 拢250 as this was a year ago. It has 10x optical zoom, 5MP, and works brilliantly!! I am only 16 so find this easy to use on automatic modes and scene, but it has all the technical stuff as well which I will hopefully learn to use in due course. It also has Optical Image Stabiliser which is very useful. This is a stunning buy and I think Canon is definetly one of the best camera makers on the current market. When looking for a camera I also studied the Panasonic cameras which looked to be very good as well. However, this camera also may be a bit chunky for you, as I see you thought a smaller camera was too chunky. I would stick with a Canon or a Panasonic though as these are great brands of cameras. Despite my camera looking big at first glance, I got used to it after a short period of time after the results were spectacular and the zooming was very useful especially for spotting birds, koalas and other animals which it wasn't possible to approach and other far away objects.

Do not under any circumstances buy a NIKON camera. I did and it was an extremely expensive mistake. Their after sales service is crap.

hi...go to this site, it has loads of digital cameras, with all the facts, specifications, and prices...in fact it is the cheapest and best place to buy much of your electronics stuff etc.

Don't know how small you are going to find one with 5x optical zoom, it takes a fairly good size lense to achieve that.

try the fugi s5600 zoom with uits 10x optical+5x digital around about 拢170 should do you proud
